FAYE OSMAN is a Borneo-based photographer and writer.

Contrary to her interests, she originated from a career that was worlds apart from her love of art and images.

She has always been writing and involved in arts since she was a small girl growing up in Ipoh, Malaysia. She has written many personal short stories and entered art competitions during her school days.

However, fresh out of high school, she was offered a scholarship to pursue engineering in the United States. Not wanting to pass up the offer, she decided to forego her initial aspirations to be an architect. She subsequently graduated four years later with a double major in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.

Years of working as an engineer in the corporate world followed. However, she soon realized she was not enjoying her career, and yearned to do something different from her chosen profession.

She found solace in writing her thoughts in her blog. Soon after, her online entries amassed quite a following among blog readers. It was then that she realized writing makes her at peace with herself, and that she would like to write for a living.

Photography came naturally to her as an extension for her interest in art. Back in the days of her childhood, she would paint pictures with various artist media like watercolor, pastels and ink. Now, with photography, she is painting with light!

Faye wants to do more with her photography than just capture images of beautiful people and fantastic events. She wants her images to tell stories of people and places seldom photographed.

When the opportunity came to relocate to Borneo, she regarded that as a 'calling' to finally pursue her passion. She then traded her cubicle-bound job for a chance to explore exciting places and meet new people, and to finally embark on a freelance career.
